Plymouth to get its first free school soon

Plymouth Free SchoolGlad news for Plymouth residents as free school for this area has been announced. Approval for the school was given during the open day meet of the Plymouth School of Creative Arts. Parents got a chance to interact with the new head teacher named Dave Strudwick about the school which admits children aged 4 -16.

Plymouth School of Creative Arts, the free school is funded by the Department of Education and supported by Plymouth College of Art. A total of 150 students will be taken in September 2013 of which 60 will be admitted to Year 1, 30 to Year 2 and 60 to reception year. Year 7 and 8 will be opened in 2014.

Professor Andrew Brewerton, Plymouth School of Creative Arts director and Plymouth College of Art principal says that they are currently doing a case study and that the location of the school will be announced on the next open day to be held in January. Details of the school premises will be announced next month, he said.
