Free Unibus service from Kings Manor for university students

February 1st, 2013 by Sandy

A Unibus service will be introduced between the University of York and Kings Manor according to announcement of YUSU President Kallum Taylor. It will be free for on-campus Kings Manor students. The free bus service was planned for the next academic year, but the plan has been forwarded to begin earlier by a term. It will benefit the students to attend seminars, lectures and supervision meetings in the campus, belonging to Eighteenth Century Studies, Archaeology and Medieval Studies. The cost of a single ticket from Kings Manor is £1.50 and for return is £2.00 normally. Students are expected to save £200 a year, if they are travelling regularly to Kings Manor. Unibus providing the service will use a smart card system. Students will be allowed a limited number of free journeys for their academic obligations. YUSU  is working out the types of cards for students to be used with Unibus, as some courses use the University campus at Kings Manor more than other ones. Recently the University public transport links announced a new service between Morrisons and the campus, and No:44 buses every 7 minutes for more frequency.
