Distinct Darlington Board has announced free parking in the North-East town of Darlington during the festive season after 3pm from 7 December up to 24 December. Free parking is operated by the council and will be available at car parks and also on street parking bays.
The announcement was made to encourage shopping during this season. It would also stop shoppers from visiting other areas. Distinct Darlington Board will cover half of the estimated revenue (£37,500) that will be lost by the way of providing free parking. Although the free parking facility has been welcomed by many it is considered only to partially fulfil the needs of the people.
