Free dementia session to be hosted by MP

February 14th, 2014 by Sandy

To help more people learn about the debilitating disease of dementia and help those suffering from it, Mark Menzies, MP from Fylde, will host a session for people. He aims to make Fylde become the first Dementia Friendly community. He wants the constituency to become first in diagnosing and treatment of the disease. The MP said that unless someone in the family is affected , it is very difficult for a person to know how to help them. Dementia is not going to go away,he said, and added that the government and communities must give it priority, to help and support as many people as possible with the disease. Any one of any age can become a Dementia Friend and action counts.

The free session will be held on 28 February, from 1.30pm to 3.00pm, at the United Reformist Church Hall, situated on St.George’s Road in St. Annes. Those completing the one and half hour session will be officially Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friends. They will receive a badge and a certificate too. Those interested in the free session can contact the MP’s office, by calling 01253 – 729846 or register by emailing to shirley.green@parliament.uk.
