Labour might increase free childcare hours

Labour recently announced that 25 hours of free child care a week will be provided to parents of three and four year olds if it wins 2015 general elections. According to the Shadow chancellor Ed Balls, bank levy will be raised by £800m a year to help raise the funds for the purpose. Current free child care service is being offered for 15 hours per week. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be given money but the respective government has to decide how the money must be used.

According to the plan an extra 10 hours of free childcare will add benefit to those parents who currently spend £1,500 a year. This would definitely be great news for working parents who can opt to work part time without having to worry about the cost involved in the childcare. If Labour wins the 2015 elections then parents are promised that their children can be left at the school from 8am to 6pm.
