Free WiFi service by O2 on London Underground, launch on 22nd July

July 6th, 2013 by Sandy

O2 customers on the London Underground will be able to access WiFi for free from 22 July, 2013. Earlier in April, O2 had said the free service would be available, but it is now that the company has confirmed that it is in the final stages of testing.

When the services go live, all O2 customers will get it free of charge on the tube. Customers signed up to O2 WiFi will get automatically connected to the service. They will be accessing the network installed by Virgin Media. It was last year that Virgin Media had installed the facility, ahead of the London Olympics, at 120 tube stations of the London Underground rail network
(including the busiest stations like Kings Cross St.Pancras and Piccadilly Circus).

It also means all mobile customers of UK, except those of Three UK, will be able to access the free WiFi on the tube. Vodafone and EE customers have already access to the service for many months, as their operators have signed deals with Virgin Media earlier.
