O2 extends free WiFi hotspots in London

June 19th, 2013 by Sandy

O2, one of the prominent mobile network operator of UK, has announced that it has extended its free WiFi hotspot covering London, to Canary Wharf. The new hotspots east of London would cover the busy shopping and business district and help an estimated 12 million users to access the O2 service. This includes the shopping malls of Canary Wharf, the plazas and outdoor parks spread over 20 acres. The company says the WiFi service by O2 is accessible by everyone regardless of the operator the user is subscribed to.
To access the WiFi service is simple and free, unlike some other WiFi offerings. You ‘ll need to register only once to access the network of O2 hotspots. Just access using an app or simply go on the browser. However O2 hotspots have a 10Gb per month per person cap. The Managing Director of O2 WiFi, Gavin Franks, believes that access to free public WiFi  is becoming a right rather than a privilege. O2 had earlier during 2012 extended its network into Westminister and Kensington & Chelsea. The mobile operator now offers over 8,000 hotspots across the UK in its 2 years plus of operations.
