Abbeyfield offers free festive dinner to lonely seniors

Abbeyfield, the charitable organisation which aims to enhance the quality of life of older citizens, have an offer this Christmas to seniors living independently. The offer is a free festive dinner or an overnight stay to older people (generally for people who are over 55) who are currently living alone and who might be alone during this Christmas period. They can spent time at the local Abbeyfield premises. The offer is from 12am of 25th December, to 12am of 4th January. For details call 0845 052 3553. It is a structured and managed organisation run by highly qualified staff and helped by 10,000 dedicated volunteers. This a global organisation and is present across 7 countries, 15 territories and offering accommodation and service since 1956, with this singular mission.

 

Free eye tests from Specsavers

A campaign by the Windsor Shopping Centre Specsavers is working to create awareness as to how you can damage eyesight by unhealthy living and habits. Windsford opticians is offering customers who sign up for New Eyes Resolution pledge, free eye-tests in January. The tests are available on Wednesdays, for those who either pledge to stop smoking, drink less, eat sensibly or to exercise more. Peter Adshead the store director, pointed that Eyecare Trust figures predicted that UK could have double the number of people with sight loss, to nearly 4 million, by 2030. He said that it was never too late to make changes and go for right lifestyle choices that help preserve or, in some instances, even restore proper vision. Wokingham people get free gym pass

Following the successful bidding for funding through Sportivate, people of Wokingham aged 14 to 25 years will get free gym passes for a period of six weeks, but only on health and medical conditions. Not just these people but whoever involved with community safety, youth offending, youth services and community development will also be given free passes. Towards the end of six weeks you can use the gym at lower rates too.

This offer also opens up excellent chance for two young people to take up training as gym instructor under the scheme of unemployment and apprenticeship.
