Apply for free school meals and help schools get back huge amount of money to support their children’s education, Wiltshire parents told. Extra fund thus collected will help schools to not only support education for registered kids but also to pay for their lunches. Also, it can be used for paying for extra personal tuition in English and Maths or to get materials such as books and laptops.
It is found that every child who has registered for free school meals helps to bring in an additional £623 per year into school which is said to rise to £900 from 2014. On the other hand, it is also found that some families who are eligible for this scheme do not actually come forward to register fearing that their children might be singled out. But all measures have been taken to keep these children unidentified.
Wiltshire Council wants parents to apply for free school meal in the month of January when it is expected to arrive. It is found that due to non-registration there is nearly a loss of £1,246,000 which could be easily used for children’s education.
Interested families can collect the form from their school. But, please check for certain conditions based on which you can register for the free school meals.
