First Capital Connect the train operating company running the Thameslink franchise, has approved the carousel of free books made available to people visiting the village train station at Meldreth railway station. According to the chairman of Meldreth, Shepreth & Foxton Rail User Group, who is councillor Susan de Ven, she has found people enjoying time and reading the books, donated to the carousel by local people, at the elaborate Victorian waiting room with some tea or coffee. The carousel has become a focal point and fits beautifully with the place. This will also help awareness about the Melbourne Library. The books can be taken and need not be returned, she pointed out. People can donate books to the Melbourne Library at Moor, Melbourne. They can be handed over from Monday to Friday. On Thursdays the time is between 5pm and 7pm and on the other days from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
