Free guided walk at Wandlebury with medieval story-telling
Cambridgeshire Archaeology are hosting the free guided walk along with Cambridge Past, Present and Future, at Wandlebury Hillfort, on 4 September (Wednesday), at 7pm. Following the walk there will be medieval story-telling by Maureen James, a famous local historian. The member of Cambridge Preservation Society, Jon Gibs, will be leading the walk. Although a popular place for walkers, the guided tour will help one to discover its hidden history, says Stephen Macaulay, the senior manager at Oxford Archaeology East.
An Iron Age hill-fort can be found on the Wandlebury site. It has more archaeological remains of the past and is even today a mystery to researchers. The place is an important wildlife and nature preserve too. Local residents and all those who like to attend, should meet at the main entrance at the car-park, which is off the A1307. The event starts at 7pm and a car-parking fee of £2 should be paid. The Stagecoach Citiplus 13X is the local bus service available.
