Climb aboard free on to the Tall Ship at Riverside

A major tourist attraction at Glasgow is the Tall Ship. It will be open to public for free on 29th of March, Friday, at Riverside. It is berthed beside the Riverside Museum, which is also a major attraction. A Facebook competition will be held to celebrate the free entry. Participants get a chance to win a £250 worth children’s birthday party on-board. The launch coincides with the Easter holiday period, with the ship having children to participate in a series of activities daily, between 11am & 3pm. They can explore the world of Peter Pan, participate in pirate hat-making and visit the mini-theatre.

The Clyde Maritime Trust expects nearly a million people to visit the new Riverside Museum and get the opportunity to visit the Tall Ship along. It has spent some £2 million over the last years in restoring and improving facilities, refurbished the Captain’s Cabin, installed an eco-friendly heating system and even improved visitor access, after a successful fund-raising programme. The Tall Ship or the ‘Glenlee’, is a sailing ship that is Clyde-built and afloat today. This ship built in 1896, is a symbol of the ship building heritage of Glasgow and has been berthed for visitors since 1999. It has a rare achievement of circumnavigating the globe four times.
