Enjoy free acoustic music this summer

A team from Hertsmere Leisure Motivate4 Parks Events will organise free acoustic music on August 18, Sunday at Bushey’s Rose Garden. It will comprise of a one-off concert and also the best unsigned acts of Hertfordshire.

Music will be performed by Tom Craven, Minnie Birch, Stone Thieves, Tilly Hewitt and My Little Empire. According to the Projects Coordinator of Hertsmere Leisure, the location is perfect for live acoustic show. There will also be few unsigned acts from Hertfordshire who will perform unplugged and live for the local community. This will truly be a treat for the whole family this summer, he added.

Free fishing for families at Holywell Row

Free fishing taster session will be held for families in Holywell Row in September. Bob Nudd, four times world champion will conduct one-to-one sessions on and also provide support of coaches.

The taster session will be held on 7th and 14th of August that is Wednesdays from 10am to 12.30pm or 1pm to 3.30pm. This free session will encourage children to keep themselves healthy and also to take part in outdoor activities. Apart from this children can also learn techniques from world champion.

Children aged 6 to 12 are allowed to take part in this event but must be accompanied by an adult. Those interested may call on 01638 719238 for booking to take part in this free event.

 

Potential holiday-makers get free ice cream at Northumberland Street

Dawson and Sanderson the holiday promoters, will be offering free ice-creams for shoppers coming to Newcastle from their ice-cream van on Northumberland Street on 17 and 24 August (Saturday).

An ice-cream van from the company with staff will be giving out free ice-creams to children and also to tell about the summer holiday exclusive deals from the brand. The van would be parked near the Haymarket Metro. The company will also be serving free ice-creams on 21 September too ahead of its 2014 summer promotions.

Black Country Libraries to hold creepy theme sessions for children

Across Black Country, this summer, the libraries will host free arts and crafts activities on creepy themes. Events at Dudley include the Little Earthquake Theatre Company holding creepy house dramas at Dudley Library, on 15 August, Thursday, between 10.30am and 12 noon.

Popular children’s book writer Jeremy Strong will make visits at Halesowen Library on 2 August, (Friday) from 11am to 12noon. Chris White will hold funny poetry sessions, visiting the borough on 8 August. He will be available from 10 to 11 in the morning at Stourbridge Library. Then between 11.45am and 12pm at the Gornal Library. And from 2.15pm to 3.30pm at the Long Lane Library.

Beano artist Laura Howell will be again here with popular cartoon workshops. She will be here on 13 August, Tuesday. She will be available from 10am to 11am at Wordsley Library. Later between 11.30am ans 12.30pm, she’ll be at Kingswinford Library. And during 2.30pm and 2.30pm at Sedgley Library.

Events will be held at Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall over the summer. Over forty-five events will be held.

The Cabinet Minister responsible for Libraries, Councillor Stuart Turner , emphasised the importance of free activities to encourage young children in reading, such as participating in the Summer Reading Challenge.
