Free Energy ChecksRibble Valley Borough Council is offering free energy checks that will help you save money. This council will be using a free cutting edge technology for testing. Households will be given thermal imaging cameras along with heat-loss checks and “Owl” energy monitors. The use of these monitors is to track electricity usage with LED displays and sensors in it. It also calculates the cost as well as the amount of greenhouse gas it generates. The electricity supply cable is attached with a clip-on sensor that sends wireless signal to the display unit through the monitor.

Ribble Valley households will get monitors free of charge for a month on a first come first serve basis. According to the housing officer of Ribble Valley Borough Council, most of the households do not appreciate about the amount of electricity used by their appliances, even on a standby. Households with low income thus face fuel poverty as they cannot attract encouraging fuel rates.

Apart from “Owl” energy monitors free energy checks using thermal imaging cameras is also being conducted. It uses infra-red light to guess for the heat loss from buildings.
