Free session for bike marking in South Tyneside

April 7th, 2014 by Sandy

A free session is being organised by the Police in South Tyneside for bike marking on 9 April, Wednesday, from 10AM to 11AM. It will take place at the ASDA, Coronation Street, South Sheilds, where residents will be invited to the free bike event to prevent bike theft.

The bikes will be marked by the Neighbouring Policing Team and they will also give advice on crime prevention. John Smith, the Neighbourhood Inspector said marking bikes can discourage thieves and also help restoring it back to owners, if stolen or lost. The event is part of a force-wide campaign called Operation Soundwave which is for tackling opportunist thieves.
