Commemorating the World Book Night, that falls on 23rd April, free books will be given away at Monifieth, Montrose, Brechin, Arbroath, Kirriemuir and Forfar. World Book Night is an event that celebrates the love of reading and of books. Thousands of book loving volunteers will gift books, specially chosen for the event, in their communities. The Reading Agency is an organisation that specialises in spreading the habit of reading through the help of libraries, and is a founding partner of the World Book Night. It coordinates the events throughout UK. This event has support of libraries of the county and more than 2,000 libraries are involved. They act as pick-up points and involve 11,996 book givers. World Book Night is celebrated on the birthday of William Shakespeare. The bard’s sonnets are featured at the back of the World Book Night titles being given away. The book give-away is to take place at Angus during 5pm and 7pm, on first come first serve basis, to share the love of reading symbolically.
