Cheshire East Council offer free IT sessions

Free IT SessionsCheshire East Council will hold free IT session for people to get the basics of internet surfing. Workshops regarding this will be held throughout Borough during the Get Online Week 2012 from October 15th to 21st. 15 main libraries run by the council will hold these free events.

Training events will consist of taster ‘IT Buddy’ sessions along with mentors, online shopping sessions, introductions to ancestry research and email checking. It has been understood that about 100,000 people including 77% of women and 64% of men over the age of 75 have never used the internet.

According to Cllr David Brown, the events will help people to learn skills from their volunteers. It will also help people to learn emailing process and the ways of saving money through shopping online. Not having internet skills is bound to make people void of several advantages, he said.
