Burnley council cuts off free parking plan

February 15th, 2013 by Sandy

Free parking plan that was introduced by the new Labour administration of Burnley town centre has been cut off by the council due to fewer visitors. Earlier, shoppers could use free parking facility on some Saturdays during the months beginning from August to October last year.

Many motorists also have complained about their inability to understand when and where the free parking was available. The fund set aside for free parking will now be used to conduct events which will help to attract more visitors to the town. More facilities for pedestrians will also be made through lighting and seating arrangement. Also, fair trade markets, continental market, live music, art and craft, street entertainer festivals, brass band concerts and more will be conducted.

More suggestions can be given during the consultation event. This will help to boost  shopping centres and small businesses to a great extent.
