There is a need for today’s generation to be aware of emergency services. And to support this, Barnardo’s Sure Start Children’s Centre will be arranging for a free event called the ‘teddy bear’s hospital’ at the Corsham fun day celebrations.
Games, dressing up and craft activities will be part of the event which is scheduled to take place on August 14th (Wednesday) at Corsham Community Centre, Beechfield Road from 10am-11.30am.
According to the Barnardo’s children’s services manager, the event is conducted especially to make younger children comfortable with emergency services and other things such as flashing lights, uniforms and sirens. It is to make them aware that there is nothing for them to fear about. The event is meant particularly for children and hence will surely be an attraction for them, he added.
The project will also provide various other activities such as soft play sessions, parenting programmes, group sessions for dads and new mums, support with speech and language and more. More than 1,000 parents and carers have registered with them so far since their start-up in 2008.
