Nokia will be offering free subscriptions to Netflix, with the purchase of some models of Lumina Windows Phone, in the UK. According to reports, Vodafone the carrier and mobile phone retailer Phones4U have struck a deal with Nokia. The mobile phone maker is working out deals with some wireless carriers and retailers in UK to provide subscription to online film service of Netflix for free.

A subscription could be an attractive discount to motivate buying of Lumina smartphones. The idea is to attract more users to the Windows Phone platform, which has a growing, but small market share. Nokia has tried selling content alongside its mobile phones previously too, but with mixed results. Reports say the Finnish handset maker will sell the Lumina 625 or 925 on Vodafone with a 6-month subscription. Microsoft is incidentally in the process of acquiring the mobile phone maker.
