Lewisham school children to receive free school lunch

A hot, healthy school lunch will be provided free to children in reception year 1 and year 2 during lunchtime. This radical measure by the Coalition government will save, over the course of a year, the average family some £400 per child, for school lunches. The scheme will be extended to to 6^th form colleges and disadvantaged students who are in further education. Approximately 11,000 children in Lewisham will get in school, the free meals. The free lunch scheme would be a great relief to families struggling under the present financial crisis, besides many other advantages the children will gain according to The School Food Plan study.
