September 16th, 2013 by Sandy

A free trade exhibition in construction will be held for the first time in Plymouth, hosted by the Cornwall Building Control Partnership, on 24 September, a Tuesday, this year. The exhibition will help contractors, designers, builders, developers and home-owners, who are all being invited here. The comprehensive trade exhibition can help various professionals from the construction industry to get update with latest changes to building regulations, to enforce them, to the planning process and advice on choosing a reputable builder. On offer will be expertise on fire safety, government schemes, grants, building control, planning, energy efficiency and advice from Empty Homes team.

To get Plymouth building, representatives will be on hand at the exhibition to explain their roles from Plymouth City Council development teams, Royal Institute of British Architects, Federation of Master Builders, besides other professional bodies. The Plymouth City Council has launched a Get Plymouth Building programme, which is part of its aim to create over 2,000 jobs in 2 years, under its Plan for Jobs scheme. They aim to support job creation directly in construction and indirectly in the supply chain, plus release land for development, to boost inward investment and attract skilled people.

Plymouth and Cornwall Building Control Partnership is going on for 2 years. They share staff and resources they have, between the councils, besides providing advice on support training, design, construction and regulation. Cabinet Member for the environment, Councillor Brian Vincent, pointed out to the need to update on changes in building regulations and planning laws. He wanted Plymouth building again and wanted big developers, as well as small businesses, supported.
