Younger tennis players offered free sessions

The Lawn Tennis Association will offer free sessions to inspire younger tennis players in 39 sites across the country on 17th and 18th of August. The LTA’s Great British Tennis Weekend along with BBC Sports’ campaign was built to encourage young people to get involved in the game.

Get Inspired was formed during the London 2012 Olympics to develop interest in sports build in Britain. BBC Sports website offered details required for more than 60 sports right from netball, rowing and climbing to badminton. Several activities such as women’s only session, cardio work outs, mini-tennis for young children aged 3 to 10 plus free training and equipments will be provided. Those interested to take up the free session may find the nearest location out of the 39 sites available.

Community cinema offers a chance to watch films for free

If you are the one interested in watching films, then here is a chance for you to watch it for free. A COMMUNITY cinema located in Arnold will screen films at St Mary’s Church, in Church Lane.

Adults must accompany children (aged below 16) who must also be eligible to watch the category of film being shown. Dr Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who (U) will be screened on August 20 at 2pm, Song for Marion (PG) on the same day at 7:30pm and Beasts of the Southern Wild (12) on September 17 at 7.30pm.

Free events for families at Maldon and Burnham

The free events being held in Malson and Burnham is for youngsters and families. The free events will feature circus skills, football, basketball and music among others. The Summer Showcase is being brought to you by Chelmsford YMCA to the skate-park, which is in Riverside Park and located in Millfields of Burnham. It is to be held here on 16 August, Friday and at Promenade Park in Maldon on next Friday, 23 August. The events will run from 10am to 4pm and is free. Free events to get views on health and well-being at Nottinghamshire

The Nottinghamshire County Council will be holding free events to find out more and hear people’s views on how to improve health and well-being for both children and adults. The council is consulting on a draft strategy and will end consultation on 26 September 2013. The Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2014-16) will aim to identify the main priorities and also the action plan to be drafted. The draft has priority areas on obesity, sexual health, children with complex needs or disabilities, older people’s priorities and housing. For the public to have their say, they can participate in the free events being conducted by the Nottinghamshire council.

The first event will be held at Retford Town Hall on 15 August, 2013, at 10am. Another event will be held at Richard Herrod Centre on 9 September, 2013, at 10am. The next event will be held at Rushcliffe Arena on 10 September, 2013, at 6pm. The next event will be held at Ashfield Summit Centre, on 12 September, 2013, at 6pm.
