The district council and Derbyshire Police will give away free smartwater kits to the residents in Ashbourne next week between Monday and Wednesday. The campaign is run by the Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership. Advice on crime prevention will also be given.
The kit contains Smartwater, registration and signs that will help owners get back their missing properties. Smartwater is a liquid that is capable of fluorescing green colour under the influence of UV light. It also holds the unique forensic fingerprint. It is developed to link criminals to the crime spot and property to the owner. The event will also spread the message that UK police force are trained to deal with the techniques behind Smartwater. It has got the power to discourage any burglar from committing a crime.
This measure has been taken to encourage people to safeguard themselves although Dales is considered as the safest place in the whole of UK. Also, the police get a chance to meet people and get their suggestions on the spot.
Residents are also required to sign up Derbyshire ‘Alert’ to keep them updated with activities and initiatives. Kindly call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or Derbyshire police on 101 for more information, crime information and any other related activities.
