KFC is one of UK’s leading restaurant chain that has got into partnership with The Cloud, to boost the dining experience of its customers, by providing free WiFi and access to the internet on its premises. The Cloud is part of BSkyB and a public access WiFi provider operating across the UK and Europe. The partnership was announced on 7 March and after a brief roll-out time, customers can access for free the internet using their mobile phones or devices to browse, or chat, or log-in to social networks. The increase of smartphones and similar mobile devices has made restaurants, retailers, bars and cafĂ©s to provide such services to enhance the customer experience.
The Senior Manager of Brand Experience of KFC, Nathan James, said that in a highly competitive industry, such services will provide an enjoyable and enhanced dining experience to an increasing number of customers using smart devices. Customers logging-in at the premises will find a KFC-branded landing page, which will contain all relevant KFC details, like menu, special offers, discounts, etc. Users can use this page or go on to access the web. The Cloud has over 16,000 hotspots with more than 8 million registered users in UK. It has partnerships with M&S, Greggs, Pizza Express, Wetherspoon, WH Smith, Pret and Wagamama, besides providing Great Western and Network Rail stations across the UK.
