Support Service for Bereavement launched

November 3rd, 2012 by Sandy

Support Service for BereavementSt. Richard’s Hospice will be hosting the new bereavement support service in Worcester. Chosen by the clinical commissioning group of Worcestershire, this is a free service extended to support people needing help after losing a loved one. Also bespoke awareness sessions will be given, depending on individual needs and circumstances.

The service consists of a website- bereavementsupportworcestershire.org.uk, a helpline phone for people registered in South Worcestershire with a GP, support from a bereavement social worker for those facing complex state of grief and also education and training in bereavement to be provided for various organisations.

The care director of the Hospice, June Patel, says one of the most difficult times of a person’s life is when he or she loses a loved one or close friend, whether in expected or sudden circumstances. This support service aims to provide information and links to sources that may be helpful or can meet a range of needs, both practical as well as emotional in support. The hospice is working closely with emergency services, GPs, hospitals and organisations to make aware of the new service to people in need.
