Councillor Graham Newman has appealed to parents to look keenly at two competing bids for the free school at Ixworth, to be situated in the place of the present Ixworth Middle school, which would soon be closed. The rival bids are from two sources. One a parent group which is in association with the Seckford Foundation and the other second bid is from the Diocesan Board of Church of England along with the Thurston Partnership. Education Secretary Michael Gove will take the final decisions of the free school being set up and whose bid will be made. Mr. Newman, the leading councillor, pointed out that transportation arrangements would be based on current policy. The council will consult parents with regard to such matters once a bid is decided.
