Non-profit organisations in UK will be provided free access to Google Apps, free products and also included is a monthly advertising credit of £6,600. So now charity workers will be accessing Google Talk, Gmail, Drive and Hangouts for free, thanks to this initiative. Google intends to help non-profit organisations to cut operating costs in IT, become  more efficient and communicate  effectively. The advertising credit can be used to promote their objectives by buying Google AdWords. The Managing Director of Google in the United Kingdom, Dan Cobley, emphasised that the internet giant  wants to support the “incredible work” of charitable organisations with their technology to help them perform better.

The Google Nonprofits programme was started in 2011 and this is the first launch outside the USA. By now, Google has given away, by way of free and discounted products, over one billion dollars. Charities registered in England and Wales with The Charity Commission, can apply online through the Google for Nonprofits site. Examples of other nonprofit organisations using Google’s tools, a support forum on technical issues and educational videos, are all available on the website.

Other initiatives include YouTube for Nonprofits , Google Apps for Nonprofits, Google Earth Outreach ad Google Grants. As part of its Global Impact Challenge, Google has awarded over £25 million in membership and hardware to 10 nonprofits in UK. Several UK charities already use Google Talk, to promote their causes. They include WaterAid, Little Princes Trust, BeatBullying and RNLI.
