The UK City of Culture 2017 title has been won by the city of Hull. To celebrate the win, a special free event will be held in the new year. Members of the public are invited to the free event.<\/p>\n
Organisers of the Hull 2017 programme claim the event will mark an extraordinary period in the city’s history. The theme will highlight Hull’s rich culture of the past and its future potential. The free event is a way to thank the people of Hull for their support in the bid to win the title, said the Councillor holding Hull’s UK City of Culture portfolio, councillor Steven Bayes. The free event<\/a> will be the first of many being planned in the city, including the spectacular programme for 2017.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A free event is being organised for children on festive crafts on 21 December (Saturday), and the session is between 2 pm and 3 pm, at the Newcastle City Library, City Centre. Families and children are invited to the event which is suitable for children of 15 to 12 years of age and all materials are provide at the free craft activity being organised, with no worries for parents. You can book online too.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It has been announced that the free NHS health check that was conducted in the year 2013 will continue at Lakeside Village for next year as well. As per reports the Quintile nurse team tested 516 people at the Lakeside village and of those, about 170 people have been referred to the GP for high blood pressure. At least two people from each session were diagnosed with either high cholesterol, blood pressure or raised glucose.<\/p>\n Lakeside Village has been helping the local people to have a regular body check-up so as to maintain perfect health condition. The Quintile nurse team checks the current health conditions of patients and explains them about the early sign of illness. The screening<\/a> helped patients diagnose the disease even before any symptom was found.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Wall Street Journal reports that a new version of a free ad supported music streaming service from Spotify will be launched for mobile phone users. Previous users had to pay a monthly subscription fee of \u00a39.99.
