{"id":5562,"date":"2012-07-14T07:31:45","date_gmt":"2012-07-14T07:31:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.freeinuk.co.uk\/blog\/?p=5562"},"modified":"2012-07-19T05:43:54","modified_gmt":"2012-07-19T05:43:54","slug":"cornwall-open-catholic-secondary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.freeinuk.co.uk\/blog\/cornwall-open-catholic-secondary-school","title":{"rendered":"Cornwall to open first Catholic Secondary free school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.freeinuk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Cornwall-Free-Secondary-School.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-5563\" title=\"Cornwall Free Secondary School\" src=\"http:\/\/www.freeinuk.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Cornwall-Free-Secondary-School.jpg\" alt=\"Cornwall Free Secondary School\" width=\"250\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>It has been reported by the staff that its first Catholic secondary free school would be opened in Cornwall on the 3rd of September.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Education has allowed St. Michael\u2019s Catholic School in Truro, free status and the school would be funded by the department.<\/p>\n<p>The school will be located on the same site as the former Camborne Girls\u2019 Grammar School, and it will have the capacity for hundred children.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Camborne Girls\u2019 Grammar School closed down in the year 1997, the location was utilized till of late as a Sure Start centre for children.<\/p>\n<p>The head teacher of St. Michael\u2019s, Mr. Neil Anderson stated that a lot of discussions were held with primary schools situated in west Cornwall, the main share holders as well as parents.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the responses they received revealed that there was urgent need for a smaller school that provided learning particularly based on religion.<\/p>\n<p>As per the staff, this would be the premier <a title=\"Catholic free school\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-cornwall-18788507\" target=\"_blank\">Catholic free school<\/a> in the United Kingdom for secondary studies.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Anderson also remarked that the team members of the St. Michael\u2019s school had been invited by various other Catholic educational institutions from throughout the UK to offer counsel regarding the development of more free schools.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been reported by the staff that its first Catholic secondary free school would be opened in Cornwall on the 3rd of September.
