Anyone who is interested to do a family history course and want to try out first, here is a free taster at Durham, a city in notheast England. The sessions are being held as a part of Festival of Learning 2018 (earlier Adult Learner’s Week) between 18th June to 24th June.<\/p>\n
Festival of Learning is one of the biggest occassion celebrated from 2013 every year in England to encourage the learners. Earlier it was celebrated as Adult Learner’s Week since 1992. The festival of learning is being co ordinated by Learning & Works Institute with the motto of bringing awareness on the benefits of learning, recognise the best learners and encourage all for learning.<\/p>\n
As a part of the celebrations of Festival of Learning 2018, Durham County Record Office has announced for a free taster sessions to give a chance to people to learn about the history of their families and ancestors.<\/p>\n
The sessions are being planned at Record office at the County Hall, Aykley Heads, Durham DH1 5UL on Tuesday \u2013 June 19 between 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm & Thursday \u2013 June 21 between 10 am to 11.30 am.<\/p>\n
The participants can get an access to the records of early 1530’s which include parish records and registers of marriage & burials and baptisms from the England churches.<\/p>\n
Education & Outreach Archivist – Dawn Layland said that researching on family history now a days becomes popular and increasing but people do not know where to get the information.<\/p>\n
Hence this session will make them to have a knowledge on their longer courses and if anyone interested can sign up.<\/p>\n
