Art Gene&#8217;s programme is back, underway this January of 2017 to run up to April, as the Allotment Soup community project continues.<\/p>\n<p>The programme features film nights, cooking events and practical planting days. Art Gene will be planting in the style of a medieval planting strip on the project field its very own grains. Bakestones and Clapcake is the the first event on 28th January (Saturday), between 2pm &amp; 4pm. It is an outdoor cooking event where participants will learn how to make Lancashire clap and Cumbrian bannocks.<\/p>\n<p>On 10th February (Friday) a bread-themed night will take place at Art Gene. On 12th February (Sunday) a special workshop will be conducted to create the growing strips. A series of 6 public walks led by artists will explore the parks, allotments, fields, medieval tracks, gardens and nature reserves of Walney Island, starting by meeting at Biggar village on 25th February (Saturday).<\/p>\n<p>March will have events and activities on the growing space site. 10th March will be a workday. 12th March will have sewing the grain strip and teaching of planting techniques. 25th and 26th March will be the weekend-long archaeology dig. All these are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nwemail.co.uk\/what-s-on\/article\/Community-growing-project-returns-with-host-of-free-events-ea7156d3-d6a8-4d78-88a0-77b054ec60fa-ds\">free events<\/a> and take place opposite Waley Fire Station, at the field on Mill Lane.
