To ensure that pet owners meet the new legal requirement, with 6<sup>th<\/sup> April as date of cut-off, council dog wardens will be fitting the chips at free sessions. After the rule comes into force, non-compliance can result in prosecution and a fine of \u00a3500.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\">The embedded microchip will hold the dog&#8217;s address and owner&#8217;s details, which are recorded on a national database. Vets and other authorities can recover and check details, when a pet gets stolen or goes missing. The chip which is about the size of a rice grain, would be inserted under the scruff of the neck of the dog, which has to be over 12-weeks old.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\">The free session will be at popular dog-walking spots in Earlsheaton, Dewsbury or Birstall. Wardens will be at hand from 9am to1pm, at Oakwell Hall Visitor Centre, on 26<sup>th<\/sup> February, Friday: from 10am to 3pm, at Parklife Lodge, Crow Nest Park, on 8<sup>th<\/sup> March, Friday; and from 10am to 2pm, at Earlsheaton Park, on 5<sup>th<\/sup> April, Tuesday.
